Accommodation
One of the largest cultural phenomena in Canada is the annual Calgary Stampede, which opens this year on July 5th—the day after we begin PSi#25. During the two weeks of the Stampede the population of Calgary swells, as many thousands of tourists arrive from around the world. As a result, hotel accommodation in the city at this time is both scarce and unusually expensive.
To address this situation, we have block-booked a large number of different kinds of accommodation through the University of Calgary and the Hotel Alma, which is located on-campus, barely a minute’s walk from the School of Creative and Performing Arts and conveniently close to public transit. There is a range of room types available, including double-occupancy options, and the prices for these rooms are substantially lower than most other hotels in the city.

Please note: some delegates have experienced technical challenges with the online accommodation reservation page. If any of the listed room options are not available, or if the site indicates the requirement of pre-payment, please contact the Hotel Alma directly at 1-877-498-3203 or stay@hotelalma.ca for direct reservations. The hotel is currently working to ensure that the site is fully functional and accurate.
Please also note: Individuals wishing to stay at the Hotel Alma longer than the duration of the conference (that is, who want to arrive before July 3rd or stay beyond July) in the share accommodation should contact the Hotel Alma reservation desk at 1-877-498-3203 or stay@hotelalma.ca with a roommate already identified. The hotel is not able to organize double-occupancy for individual conference participants.
Traveling to Calgary
Air transportation to Calgary arrives at the Calgary International Airport (YYC Airport), which is serviced by all major international airlines.
The University of Calgary is located at 2500 University Drive NW, approximately 18 km west of the airport, and is accessible by car, bus, and CTrain (light rail service).
Travel Between YYC Airport and University of Calgary
When you arrive at the YYC airport, you will see several "White Hat" volunteers at the baggage area. They know the city well and can help you find your way through the airport.
The University of Calgary is located at 2500 University Drive NW, approximately 18 km west of the airport, and is accessible by car, bus, and CTrain (light rail service). PSi participants have three primary options for ground transportation:

Taxi - Taxi stands can be found immediately outside the Arrivals area. The cost from the airport to the University campus is approximately $40 CAD. Most taxi drivers are able to accept debit, major credit cards, as well as cash. The trip will take 35-45 minutes, depending on traffic.

Uber - The Uber pickup is located up one floor from arrivals, on the "Departures" level, near door #1. Your app will give you clear directions to the pickup area. Drivers usually arrive within 3-4 minutes of being called, so ensure your luggage is picked up before you order the ride. The cost will also be between around $40 CAD (unless surge pricing is in effect), and the trip will take 35-45 minutes, depending on traffic.

Public Transit - You may also prefer to use the Calgary Transit system. The YYC Airport is served by public buses. There is a very helpful trip planner that can be found online here, which will help you plan your trip based on your arrival time. Transit currently costs $3.40 CAD for a ticket, which is valid for 90 minutes. Your trip will take approximately 60-75 minutes by public transit. Calgary Transit does not run late into the evening, so if you are arriving at night, this may not be your best option.
Locating the Hotel Alma/Student Residence
Your taxi/Uber drive should be able to drop you off directly at the Hotel Alma, or your selected student residence. Conference accommodation details can be found here. Stay tuned for walking instructions from the bus loop or CTrain.
Parking
Parking is available in the Art Parkade, directly across the road from Craigie Hall and the Reeve Theatre. When entering the campus from University Drive NW (under the large red arch), the parkade is immediately on your left, beside the bus loop in front of Craigie Hall. The "Art Building and Parkade" is clearly visible in the lower right-hand corner of the inset map in our online Conference Map.
